Our 4th graders enjoyed a special presentation from two Native American guests who shared their culture, heritage, and artifacts with the class. Students were excited to touch real items, ask questions, and listen to the beautiful traditional songs performed in the presenter’s native language. What a great learning experience for them.

Before break, our 4th graders participated in their own "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade." They were able to show off their "balloons" to other classes. These students have very creative young minds.

Congratulations to this great kid, Alena! She won third place for the Advanced Disposal drawing contest. Way to go! Look for her drawing on the side of the Advanced Disposal trucks.

Remember, next week is Thanksgiving Break. There is no school all week.

Recently, some 5th graders helped decorate our Thanksgiving boxes for our families who could use a helping hand this season. By donating their time to help others, these students are developing positive character, one of our school's values.

Come to our second "Coffee Chat" this Friday at 8:45 a.m. You will get to chat with our school counselor and school psychologist. Refreshments and childcare will be provided.

Mrs. Mack develops positive character in her students by showing gratitude to our service men and women. The White Table is set to remember those soldiers that will not be home for the holidays.

At Mesa Grande, a value we commit to is to encourage positive character. Showing up at school is a positive characteristic. Last week, we threw a party for all of the students who had perfect attendance for the first quarter. The 145 students loved their treat. Way to go, kids!

Mesa families. There is no school on Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, because of Veterans Day.

At Mesa Grande, one of our values is to love our students. One way that teachers do this is through morning greetings. Every day, the teachers greet their students before entering the room. Here is Ms. Parenti greeting one of her students. When students start the day off positively, they have a much better day.

At Mesa Grande, one of our values is to promote a collaborative culture. Here are students in Mr. Dynes' 6th grade class collaborating to solve math problems. It is great to see students able to work together effectively. What a wonderful college and career skill!

At Mesa Grande, one of our values is committing to an academic focus. Last week, first through sixth graders who scored at or above grade level on their first iReady Diagnostic were rewarded with an ice cream party. Congratulations to those Mustangs! We had over 100 students participate. Keep up the good work! We look forward to celebrating with more of our students at the next iReady party.

At Mesa Grande, one of our values is encouraging positive character. Recently, some sixth graders have been learning about respecting people who work in our school, and making sure everyone at the school is treated with kindness and respect. Here is a picture of one of the sixth graders getting to know Mr. Kirk better, by interviewing him.
