Mesa families. You are invited to Mesa Grande’s drive-thru “Trick or Treat.” Come to Mesa Grande on Friday, October 30, from 10 am-2 pm and get some Halloween candy. We will need each car to wait in line in the front parking lot (like the Chromebook and supply pick-up). Once it’s your turn, we will pass out candy to the children inside of the car. Costumes are encouraged. Safety precautions will be taken. As a reminder, per San Bernardino County guidance, people who are immune-compromised, who have pre-existing conditions, or are age 65 and older should avoid Halloween activities. Individuals who are feeling sick or believe they might have been exposed to COVID-19 must stay at home (isolate) and may not participate in these activities. Thank you, and have a great day.

Mesa families. Soon, you will be receiving a welcome back letter from me, letting you know who your child’s teacher is. On Tuesday (8/4), from 12-3, and Wednesday (8/5), from 9-12, you can come to school and pick up the bag of supplies that has been prepared for your child for all grades. You will pull up to the bus lane, have your child’s name and teacher on a visible piece of paper, and open your vehicle’s trunk- just like last spring’s Chromebook passing out. TK, K, and 1st graders will be receiving a Chromebook, too. I just don’t have the exact date for that. Stay tuned. Hope to see you all next Tuesday or Wednesday. School starts on Thursday, August 6. Take care and be safe.

Hesperia Unified School District is pleased to announce that we will be using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools as part of our campus safety programs for students and faculty. All visitors, volunteers, and visiting staff will be asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a Driver’s License, state ID, etc. The Raptor system only checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded. The system is not connected to any other database such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, and information is not shared with any outside agency.
This implementation will help increase the efficiency in our offices, allowing District-approved volunteers to spend their valuable time in classrooms instead of in the front office. Thank you, in advance, for your support in enhancing safety in our schools.
